02.Nov.2010 looking back to look fwd

Getting somewhat nostalgic (/lazy) in recent times so reinvented some of my old stuff as a means to kickstart new material. I’ve re-tracked both “My Beautiful Blue” and “Antinovel”.  I never felt the recorded arrangements and production did them justice so wanted to kick ‘em in the guts one last time.  Noise making is fun and am loving the simpler ITB setup and it’s paying creative dividends. The realisation that I’m a musician and not an engineer has been a revelation.

Plan A – a new 4 or 5 Track EP:   The aforementioned two oldies tracked, newbie “Beating Hearts Slave” and one or two more.Have a week before I’m due back at work so hoping to have BHS in the can by the weekend.   Need to write/record one or two more after than that. I’ll then have a crack at the mixes but will send it out externally for mastering.

Not sure what banner this stuff will be relased under but have “retired” both Hedaya (there’s a crap emomuppetcore outfit who’ve since acquired the moniker) and Balance in the Hanging ( the Clever Bedsit is no longer a house of metal).

Have sold a lot of gear off lately.  Going back to an “in the box” setup for my home-based setup which is far more practical than the hybrid setup I had. Have sold most of my outboard compressors and FX, my large control surface, my beloved Rickenbacker,  and a couple of  basses (a few new “friends” are on their way though). My current setup:
